Reflections on The Body Is Not An Apology
Hello book clubbers!
I hope you’ve enjoyed reading The Body Is Not An Apology. We are about three weeks away from our book club meeting, which has been rescheduled to Saturday, May 31st from 2-3:30 pm. I’m really looking to hearing your thoughts!
As I’ve read through the book and reflected on Taylor’s prompts, I’ve taken a critical yet compassionate look at how I view myself and others, and how we are conditioned to make assumptions about people based on their bodies. I’ve also explored ways in which I have sacrificed my authenticity due to the pressure to be accepted by mainstream culture.
Are there qualities in yourself that you feel you have minimized or apologized for because they do not fit the norm? How has this impacted your life?
I hope you will bring your thoughts on what we’ve read to our next book club meeting! Please note that the storefront will be remain open to the public during our meeting.
DATE: Saturday, May 31st
TIME: 2:00 - 3:30 pm
LOCATION: 353 Church Street
See you soon!
